The LBD Never Tasted So Good

There may be a new drink in town, but luckily, our most beloved female fashion staple isn’t going anywhere. Little Black Dress Vodka is being marketed as “vodka created by women who know how to mix it up” and comes in all of those trendy flavors that are so tasty, it doesn’t even matter what you mix with it: Black Cherry Vanilla, Blueberry Pomegranate, and Pineapple Honey.

Recently, the newly launched vodka brand sponsored one of my favorite events: Sushi in the City which benefits Family Scholar House in Louisville, KY. In honor of the sponsorship, guests were encouraged to wear their favorite LBD to the evening event. I secretly groaned at the idea of everyone arriving as carbon copies of each other and found myself struggling to identify a black dress that did not hug my body – after all, this was an event where I intended to indulge in sushi, and lots of it! Much to my delight, the styles of black dresses that began to file into the beautiful, historic Henry Clay were as unique as the flavors of Little Black Dress Vodka. Individual style was still very much exhibited despite the dress code and, like the expertly marketed beverage, each LBD look could be mixed and matched with a variety of accessories but was yummy enough to stand alone.

My favorite look of the night came courtesy of Kate Hendon in a lace backless number. It was chic with just the right amount of studied sex appeal. Now there’s a woman who really knows how to mix it up!

Please forgive the fuzzy quality of the photo taken from my cell phone. I’m just going to blame the Little Black Dress Splash. At 102 calories, I’m sure I had more than one! Here’s the recipe:

1 1/2 oz Little Black Dress® Classic Vodka
4 oz Diet Cranberry Juice

In a shaker filled with ice, add ingredients, roll to mix and pour into a martini glass. Garnish with a lemon twist. Cheers!
